The 2025 season launches with something truly special at the Bathurst 6 Hour. For the first time, the Winmax Australian Pulsar Racing Association’s (APRA) Nissan Pulsars go head-to-head with the high-revving Mazda RX8s of Formula RX8 in an interclub battle for bragging rights and Bathurst glory.
This isn’t just about trophies. It’s about legacy. It’s front wheel drive versus rear wheel drive. Traditional four-cylinder reliability versus rotary power.
For APRA, this marks a much-anticipated return to the mountain. After debuting at Bathurst in recent years, the Winmax Australian Pulsar Racing Association has built a reputation for close, competitive racing, grassroots accessibility, and a strong sense of community. Racing at Mount Panorama is always a privilege, and this year’s inclusion in the Bathurst 6 Hour support program is another proud milestone.
For Formula RX8, a relatively new category in the Australian motorsport landscape, this event is a major step forward. Built on the foundation of accessible rotary racing, Formula RX8 brings a unique noise, style, and challenge to the grid. Their rapid growth and passionate community make them the perfect counterparts to APRA’s seasoned field.
With races spread across Friday and Saturday, and Race 2 set to be televised on Fox Sports/Kayo at 12:05 pm Saturday, fans across the country can witness the action. Race 3 may also sneak into the broadcast window, depending on final timings.
This isn’t just a battle of speed. It’s a meeting of culture, engineering philosophy, and driver mindset. From pit preparation to race strategy, every decision counts. Will it be the steady confidence of the front wheel drive Pulsars, or the raw, rear driven energy of the RX8s that dominates the mountain?
