Pulsars to conquer the mountain in 2022

MRF Tyres Australian Pulsar Racing Association (APRA) will take to the mountain over the Easter weekend in 2022, supporting the Bathurst 6 Hour that will be shown Live and Free on Channel 7 and accessible around the world via online streaming services.

APRA along with MRF Tyres is thrilled to announce that we will be taking on the mountain in 2022 for the first time ever.

APRA, a single make category for Nissan Pulsars has grown year on year since its inception. The thought of seeing 63 Pulsars running door to door at arguably Australia’s most iconic track is about as exciting as it gets in Grassroots Motorsport.

MRF Tyres, naming rights sponsor and Official tyre supplier for the APRA championship, has rewarded APRA for its commitment with Vivek Ponnusamy working hard to secure the chance to provide APRA with the opportunity to participate in such a great Australian Motorsport event.

Damon May, APRA Director, “What can I say? This is a fantastic opportunity for our members to showcase what is the best grassroots single make racing in the country. We have a fantastic working relationship with the team at Mentor Tyres and MRF Tyres. All the hard work put in by both parties is now coming to fruition. We cannot thank Vivek enough, during 2020 we both faced some massive challenges, Vivek was always doing what needed to be done to ensure we managed to stay on track, offering our members continued opportunities to do what they love to do most. Race their Pulsars. I think Vivek’s passion for supporting Motorsport in Australia is more than evident in his actions. To now head to the mountain is beyond belief. Our thanks go to MRF Tyres and the Australian Racing Group (ARG) for placing faith in us to put on a great show.”

Vivek Ponnusamy, CEO Mentor Tyres the Australian and NZ importer of MRF Tyres “It has been a pleasure working with APRA over the past 2 years. We have an incredibly constructive relationship and to say we work well together is an understatement. APRA is a fantastic category with a great group of competitors. They regularly have oversubscribed grids and, in some cases, have to book two grid spots to give all competitors an opportunity to race. We can’t wait to see similar growth in other states in the coming years. It is fantastic MRF Tyres has been able to provide APRA with this chance. Whilst the finer details are yet to be worked out, we can now announce that Pulsars will be at Bathurst in 2022. I can imagine tomorrow there will be a few more in the build process looking at getting a spot on the grid.”

With member numbers now in the hundreds, there is no doubt APRA will be able to provide a capacity grid for the Easter weekend event from 14th to 17th April 2022.
